Outgoing Upper East Police Commander Praised for Exemplary Leadership as New Commander Takes Over
The Upper East Regional Minister, Hon. Akamugri Donatus Atanga, has commended outgoing Regional Police Commander DCOP Raymond Wejong Ali Adofiem for his exceptional leadership, citing enhanced security operations, reduced crime rates, and stronger police-community relations during his tenure.
The tribute was delivered at the 2024 End-of-Year Get-Together (WASSA) and handing-over ceremony held at the Regional Police Command in Bolgatanga on Friday, June 27, 2025.
Hon. Akamugri hailed DCOP Adofiem, affectionately called the “Lion King,” for his strategic foresight and collaborative approach with the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) and sister agencies, which contributed to peace and stability in the region.
“Your professionalism and dedication have left an indelible mark,” the minister stated, bidding him farewell with traditional blessings: “Lahooy Fara Fara, Ti Puuhiya.”
The event also marked the official assumption of duty by the new Regional Commander, ACP John Ferguson Dzineku, whom the minister urged to build on his predecessor’s legacy.
Acknowledging challenges such as border security and chieftaincy disputes, Hon. Akamugri expressed confidence in ACP Dzineku’s ability to lead, assuring him of full support from REGSEC, traditional leaders, and stakeholders.
The minister reiterated government commitments to equip the Police Service with modern tools, including communication systems, patrol vehicles, protective gear, and expanded CCTV surveillance under the Safe City Project.
He also emphasized the need for intelligence-led policing, community engagement, and rooting out misconduct to uphold professionalism.
Hon. Akamugri praised officers for their resilience during the 2024 election security operations and assured continued logistical and welfare support.
