Upper East Regional Minister Calls for Peace and Collaboration In Bawku at Living Waters Chapel International Conference

The Upper East Regional Minister, Hon. Akamugri Donatus Atanga, has called for peace and unity in the Bawku Traditional Area, urging feuding factions to embrace dialogue and support mediation efforts led by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The Minister’s address was delivered on his behalf Sunday by John Muniru, an Assistant Director at the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC), during the Conference of Leaders and Pastors of the Living Waters Community Chapel International (LWCI) held at Zebilla Senior High Technical School.
The conference, themed “My Year of Divine Increase,” brought together church leaders, pastors, and stakeholders to foster spiritual growth, wisdom, and community development.
Hon. Akamugri described the event as a “divine convocation” aimed at empowering spirits, renewing visions, and advancing God’s kingdom.
In his speech, the Minister praised LWCI for its role as a catalyst for moral, social, and economic transformation.
He emphasized the church’s historical significance in shaping nations and restoring salvation, urging religious leaders to continue serving as voices of peace, reconciliation, and national cohesion.
“The church must remain a sanctuary of calm and reason, fostering consensus-building among actors, especially in times of crisis,” he stated.
Addressing the ongoing conflict in the Bawku Traditional Area, Hon. Akamugri appealed to all parties to cease hostilities and support the mediation process led by Asantehene. He called on the church to play a pivotal role in promoting peace and stability in the region.
“Let us harness the power of collaboration to build strong networks, engage in community development, and partner with stakeholders to drive meaningful change,” he added.
The Minister also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting initiatives that align with the development aspirations of the Upper East Region.
He pledged the unwavering support of the Regional Coordinating Council and the Chiefs and People of the region to conferences like LWCI’s, which aim to foster spiritual and socio-economic growth.
The General Overseer of LWCI, Apostle Paul Thiombiano, and the Guest Speaker, Pastor Dale McBean from the USA, were among the dignitaries who graced the occasion.
The conference concluded with a call to action for attendees to leave with a renewed sense of mission and commitment to preaching salvation and empowering communities for national development.
Hon. Akamugri ended his address on a hopeful note, declaring 2025 as the “Year of Divine Increase” and urging participants to align themselves with God’s purpose. “Let us rise in faith, work with diligence, and draw strength from the Prince of Peace, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ,” he said.
