Upper East Regional Minister Attends Burial of Late WOII Kpatiran Abrahams

The Upper East Regional Minister joined the Ghana Armed Forces and the Kpatiran family on Saturday for the burial, memorial, and thanksgiving service of the late Warrant Officer Class II (WOII) Kpatiran Abrahams, who died in the line of duty in Bawku while serving as a peacekeeping officer.
The burial, memorial, and thanksgiving service took place in the Talensi District.
In a statement, the regional minister conveyed the condolences of President John Mahama and the government of Ghana to the bereaved family. He also announced the government’s commitment to supporting the late soldier’s children.
Additionally, he assured the family that their demand for an investigation into WOII Kpatiran’s death would be forwarded to the appropriate authorities.
The late WOII Kpatiran enlisted in the Ghana Armed Forces on July 7, 2005, and later joined the 4th Infantry Battalion’s Mechanical Transport Platoon on April 9, 2010. His peacekeeping service included deployments with UNIFIL GH 67 (2008), UNIFIL GH 73 (2011) and UNIFIL GH 90 (2024). He was also recognized with medals during Ghana’s 50th-anniversary celebrations.
In a tribute, the 4th Infantry Battalion described him as “a man of few words but always executed every task with passion.” “The statement has left family and friends questioning the circumstances of his death,” the noted.
“Why was he murdered in cold blood while on a peacekeeping mission?” they asked. “Many who knew him recalled that while he avoided conflict, he stood firmly for justice.”
Funeral attendees included military personnel, police officers, community leaders and loved ones who paid their respects to the late soldier.
