UPPER EAST MINISTER EULOGIES LATE CHIGABATIA
Hon. Dr. Hafiz Bin-Salih, the Upper East Regional Minister, has eulogized the late Hon. Mrs Agnes Asangalisah Chigabatia, a former Member of Parliament (MP) for the Builsa North Constituency.
The Minister acknowledged her tremendous contributions to the development of her Constituency and the entire region.
The late Hon. Mrs Chigabatia, also a former Deputy Minister for the Region, and former Regional Chairperson for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), died on January 9, 2024, and was laid to rest on April 27, 2024.
Hon. Dr. Bin-Salih in a tribute read on his behalf by Mr. Anthony Namoo, the Regional Chairman of the NPP, described the late Hon. Chigabatia as a trailblazer in her quest to build the Party in the Region and beyond, when she contested and won the Regional Chairperson position in 2010, a position in the two major political parties no woman had ever held till date.
The Minister noted that the late stalwart of the Party upped her political career when she contested and won the Party’s Parliamentary primary in the Builsa North Constituency and subsequently won the seat for the NPP in 2004.
Hon. Dr. Bin-Salih described the former MP as a woman with epitome of courage, a true patriot whose determination knew no bound and believed in team-work in the NPP.
“Death has robbed us off a formidable campaign machine. Indeed, you were the fulcrum around which the campaign machinery in the Builsa North Constituency revolved,” the Minister said.
The Minister also commiserated with the family of the Paramount Chief of the Nangodi Traditional Area, Na-Paryung Kassom Asaga Yelzoya, for the lost of his mother, and presented to the family an undisclosed amount of money on behalf of Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President and Flag bearer of the NPP in the 2024 general elections.
He further attended the burial ceremony and final funeral rights of the mother of Hon. Thomas Pearson Wini, the District Chief Executive for Talensi, and proceeded to the Chiana-Paga Constituency to mourn with Hon. Mohammed Adams Karim, the Constituency Chairman of the NPP who lost his mother.
