Mr Tetteh Padi, the Executive Secretary of the Ghana Refugees Board, says the Board will soon open its Regional Office at the Coordinating Council in Upper East Region by the end of April 2023.
He disclosed this when he called on Hon Stephen Yakubu, the Regional Minister in his office.
Mr Padi said the office space was ready and plans were underway to procure furniture to set it up for use.
He said the office would reduce the stress associated with refugees travelling to Accra or Sunyani to register for refugees status.
He assured the regional office of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) that they were working assiduously with the relevant stakeholders to access the much needed resources to assist NADMO to support asylum seekers.
The Executive Secretary thanked the Regional Coordinating Council for the office space, and pledged to work with the central administration to resolve refugee crisis in the region.
