The Upper East Regional Coordinating Council (UERCC) has held the 2023 first quarter Regional Planning Coordinating Meeting (RPCU) to strategize towards achieving the development agenda of the region.
In his welcome remarks on behalf of the Regional Minister, the Chief Director of the RCC, Alhaji Inusah Abubakari charged all the decentralized departments to work assiduously to enable the region attend enviable economic status.
He said the RCC would provide the necessary technical support to all Departments through regular RPCU meetings to assist them plan realistic and achievable activities.
Various Regional Heads of Departments at the meeting took turns to report on their executed planned actions.
The Regional Director of the Department of Social Welfare, Mr Edmund Abanga Apiiga for instance, said his outfit visited 30 communities in six Districts to pay Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) beneficiaries, resolved some juvenile crimes and family cases, while some were still pending for redress.
Considering the nature of the juvenile cases, Mr Apiiga appealed to parents to take up parental responsibilities to prevent juvenile delinquency which was on the rise in the Municipality, and advised the youth to learn skills if they would not pursue formal education to earn a living.
Mr Francis Takyi-Koranteng, the Regional Director for the National Youth Authority, reported that under the Skills Towards Employability and Productivity (STEP) project, 40 youth selected from Pusiga and Binduri Districts were under going various skills training in dressmaking, hairdressing, cosmetology, manicure and pedicure, human- beautification, satellite dish installation among others.
He said all the beneficiaries were provided with the necessary logistics to enable them complete their respective chosen vocations successfully.
