PRESIDENT ASSURES OF ECONOMIC STABILITY.

His Excellency, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has given the assurance that his government is working to stabilize the economy.

“My government stands strongly with you in this difficult time we are going through but with courage and vision and unity among us all, we will come out from this difficulty and get our country back into good place, and that is a firm promise that l am making to you,” he said.

President Akufo-Addo was speaking at this year’s Feok Festival for the Chiefs and people of the Builsa Traditional area in the Builsa North Municipality of the Upper East Region.

He thanked God for His mercies on the Paramount Chief, Nab Azagsuk Azantilow II, and members of the Traditional Council for the unique leadership and their ability to maintain the peace and serenity in the area over the years.

President Akufo-Addo indicated that he was not only happy to join the people to celebrate the festival, but to witness the 10th Anniversary celebration of Nab Azantilow on the Paramount skin.

He supported the celebration with GHc 50,000.00.

The Regional Minister, Hon. Stephen Yakubu expressed the Region’s appreciation for government’s flagship programmes including the Free Senior High School, the ‘Agenda lll’, project, ‘One- Village -One Dam’, Planting for Food and Jobs, and the construction of 1,000 metric tonnes capacity of warehouse across the Region.

He added that under the One-District One-Factory programme, government in partnership with a private indigenous investor had established a rice milling and packaging factory in the Builsa South District which had not only added value to the huge rice production capacity, but also providing several direct and indirect jobs for the youth.

On his part his part, Nab Azantilow ll acknowledged government’s support to the area including the several policies and programmes in the area.

He commended government for the provision of a power plant to the Sandema Hospital through the Ghana Gas Company, and appealed for the installation of a cold system for the newly constructed mortuary facility in the hospital.

According to Nab Azantilow, the Free Senior High School Policy did not only make education accessible, but also relieved parents, especially in the Builsa area where majority of the people are poor.

His Royal Majesty appealed to the President to absorb the Chuchuliga Day Technical School for teachers to be posted to make teaching and learning effective, establishment of Agricultural Training College in the Builsa South and a Nursing Training College in the Builsa North Municipality where some infrastructure already existed at the foundation level.

The Municipal Chief Executive for the area, Hon. Vida Akantagriwen Anaab expressed appreciation to the President for the construction of a bridge on the Sandema -Doninga- Santija-Wa Road which has perfectly linked the Region to the Upper West Region.
