MILITARY, PRISON FRACAS WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN – REGSEC CHAIR ASSURES
Hon. Dr. Hafiz Bin-Salih, the Chairman of the Upper East Regional Security Council (REGSEC), has given the assurance that the recent fracas between Military and Prison officers in Bawku will not occur again.
He expressed his commitment to work towards peace in the area and across the Region saying “My commitment is to ensure that conflicts do not happen in the first place for us to go and resolve.
“We will work towards peace across the region,” the Chairman, who is the Regional Minister, assured.
Hon. Dr. Bin-Salih said this when he interacted with the security agencies in the Bawku Municipality to resolve the misunderstanding that occurred between the two sister security services on April 24, 2024.
He said REGSEC promptly responded to the unfortunate incident through several engagements with the various Service Commanders and the officers in Bawku.
He said the issue was resolved peacefully.
The REGSEC Chair said as part of measures to foster peace and unity among the security agencies in the Region, REGSEC intended to introduce some activities including fun games.
The Honourable Minister, who earlier paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of the Bawku Traditional Area, Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, in his palace, introduced himself to the Chief as the new Regional Minister.
He assured him of his commitment towards peace and development in the entire region.
He said Bawku used to be a vibrant economic hub of the region but same could not be said of the area today, and pledged to be fair as Chairman of REGSEC to ensure peace.
Hon. Dr. Bin-Salih was accompanied by the General Officer Commanding (GOC)i for the Northern Command, Brigadier General Frank Tei, REGSEC members including the Chief Director of the Regional Coordinating Council, Alhaji Abubakari Inusah.
