I WILL PRIORITIZE AGRIC AND POWER GENERATION – DR. BAWUMIA

His Excellency the Vice President and Flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, says agriculture and solar power generation will be his priority if voted as President.
He said 20,000 hectares of land in Northern Ghana would be mechanized with lastest technology along the White Volta Basin to reduce food prices and reduce the issue of flooding with the spillage of the Bagre dam in Burkina Faso.
The Vice President said this during a campaign visit to the Upper East Region to solicit votes for the December 7, 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
He said Ghana had abundant sun energy hence, he would invest in 2,000 megawatts solar generation that would reduce the cost of fuel power generation by at least 50 percent.
The Flag bearer said in his first year as President, he would invest in solar panels manufacturing in large scale to supply to other West African countries.
He said as Vice President, he had initiated 33 policies in the area of digitalization that has saved the country millions of Ghana Cedis.
He said the introduction of the Ghana Card alone eliminated 44,000 ghost workers from the Controller and Accountant General’s Department, 19,000 ghost pensioners and saved GH¢400,000,000 and GH¢300,000,000 respectively each year.
The Vice President said the E- Pharmacy platform hosted 2456 pharmacies and Upper East had 24 for all approved Food and Drugs Authority medicines for easy location and access.
He touted the Free Senior High School policy as a massive achievement and said in 2016, enrollment was 800,000 but in the last seven years, it increased to 1,400,000 and the proportion between boys and girls was 100 to 68 but now, it was 100 to 108.
