BOLGA EAST GETS COURT COMPLEX
The Upper East Regional Minister, Hon. Stephen Yakubu, says the newly constructed Court facility in the Bolgatanga East District will serve justice to residents devoid of their socio-economic status, religion and political colour.
He said crime rate including pilfering, snatching of motorbikes, burglary among others were on the ascendency within the district, and was confident that with the construction of the Court complex, justice would be swiftly delivered.
Hon. Yakubu was speaking at the inauguration of a newly constructed District Court at Zuarungu, the Bolgatanga East District capital.
He expressed concern about substance abuse among the youth which fueled criminal activities and resulted in some psychiatric conditions in the region.
“As the region battles with high incidence of rioting in the second cycle institutions, the Court needs to take a critical look at these negative trends,” he said.
Justice Gbiel S. Suurbaareh, an Appeals Court Judge in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, who represented the Chief Justice, said the initiative to construct a Court complex in the District, laid the foundation for justice for societal progress.
He commended the cooperation between the local Authorities and the Judicial Service of Ghana to provide suitable Courts across the country as stipulated in the law.
“It’s hearting to witness the fulfillment of this commitment here in Zuarungu community that will have access to the legal infrastructure. I want to commend the authority of the local Assembly for their diligence and commitment in delivery this project,” he said.
