MINISTER PRESENTS VEHICLES AND COMPUTERS TO SOCO ZONAL OFFICE
The Upper East Regional Minister, Hon. Stephen Yakubu has presented five brand new Toyata Hilux Pick-Up vehicles, 45 laptops and 182 tablets for field monitoring and supervision of projects under the Gulf of Guinea Social Cohesion Northern Regions (SOCO) Project.
He said four of the vehicles would be used by the Zonal Office, while one would be at the Regional Coordinating Council to facilitate monitoring of the project.
The 15 Municipal and Districts Assemblies (MDAs) also received three laptops and tablet computers each for field monitors to gather information.
The Regional Minister indicated that 582 projects were initiated across the five northern regions and Oti out of which 270 would be executed in the 15 MDAs in the Upper East Region.
He mentioned the construction of educational and health infrastructure, rehabilitation of some exhibiting structures, roads projects among others.
He disclosed that contract award letters were ready and Contractors would soon move to sites in November to start work.
He said the project would create job opportunities for the youth in the region.
Mr. Samuel Larbi Agyarko, the SOCO Zonal Coordinator for the Upper East and North East Regions expressed appreciation to the government, the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development for the support.
He gave the assurance that the vehicles would be properly maintained to serve the intended purpose.
