I AM READY TO DEVELOP UPPER EAST REGION – DR. BIN-SALIH
The Upper East Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Hafiz Bin-Salih has indicated his readiness to work with traditional authorities in the region for development.
He said the development needs and challenges of the region were daunting, and he, as Minister could not solve them alone.
“I acknowledge that I can’t work alone, therefore, I am calling for support, wisdom and direction to provide quality leadership, and I am confident that together, we resolve the greater part of the development agenda,” he said.
Hon. Dr. Bin-Salih said this when he called on Paramount Chiefs in their various Palaces to introduce and familiarize himself with them as the new Regional Minister.
He said one major problem that impeded the development of the region was the issue of conflict, particularly in Bawku, which had the tendency to dent the image of the region and deter potential investors.
He said development could only be achieved in peace and harmony.
The Minister also observed that there were several poor road networks in the region, coupled with the lack of potable water, and rural communities without electrification among other challenges which needed attention.
He assured the chiefs that he would work with relevant stakeholders and institutions to ensure that the issues were solved.
The Minister, who is the Chairman of the Regional Security Council (REGSEC), appealed to the traditional authorities, especially those at border towns to educate their subjects on the need for them to volunteer information on suspicious characters to security agencies in their communities to help them flush out any potential extremists and criminals.
