CHIEF DIRECTOR WORRIED ABOUT FALLEN STANDARDS IN LOCAL GOV’T SERVICE

The Chief Director for the Upper East Regional Coordinating Council, Alhaji Inusah Abubakari, has expressed concern about fallen standards in the Local Government Service (LGS).

He said officers who desired to be recruited into the LGS, especially into the Administrative Class, popularly known as “Admin Class”, must endeavour to meet the required standards in order to maintain the integrity of the Service.

The Chief Director was speaking on behalf of the Regional Minister prior to an interview ceremony to upgrade and convert LGS officers to various ranks in the Service in Bolgatanga.

The interviewees were drawn from the Northern, Upper West, North East and Upper East Regions.

Alhaji Abubakari said the Service was deeply worried about the inability of “Admin” Officers to compile proper minutes, reports and lack other basic knowledge about the Service.

He informed the interviewees about a score sheet, and that anyone who fell below the requirements would not be converted.

“There are basic things about the Local Government Service you are supposed to know, but most of you fail to study even the motto of the Service,” he said.

He urged the officers to take up the interview process seriously and also study hard to lift up the image of the Service if they got promoted.

“You are supposed to be all round, have some knowledge in planning, budgeting and other areas. To be knowledgeable, you have to continue to study because as you climb the ladder higher, is not easy,”  he urged them.
